The wheat and pea fields in the Palouse country of southeast Washington state are a popular location for photographers and photography workshops in the Pacific Northwest. In early June the rolling hills are covered in velvety emerald green, while later in the summer the wheat turns golden just before harvest.

Steptoe Butte rises above the surrounding fields, offering a 360 degree view that is spectacular at both sunrise and sunset. This photo shows the town of Steptoe with its characteristic grain storage silos and elevators.
